Owner wants this boat gone! Reasonable offers will be considered!

This Tom Fexus-designed 42' Mikelson Sedan Cruiser is an excellent example of the quality, performance and style that this coveted brand is known for.

Throughout the recent years, the current owners of this vessel have done some significant upgrades and performed maintenance that exceeds what you'll find typical in other vessels of this vintage. The fully cored hull with rounded chines, along with the shallow keel, keep her performance fuel efficient while maintaining outstanding seakeeping abilities.

The twin Detroit 8.2 250 hp turbo charged diesel engines have less than 1200 hours and have had recent service and upgrades by a notable Detroit Diesel mechanic in the Anacortes area (please see full specs for details on the work; invoices for this work are available).  This vessel is also outfitted with an Onan 8kw generator and new Xantrax smart inverter with batteries replaced in 2017 (plus the house batteries were relocated for easier access).

Enter through the transom door into the roomy cockpit; the wide door from the cockpit takes you into the level salon and lower helm area with ease.  The galley, positioned just a few steps down from the salon (and can be easily seen from the salon settee), is to port, and just opposite the guest stateroom with twin bunks (and washer/dryer unit).  Forward is the very comfortable master stateroom with queen berth, great stowage and ensuite access to the head.  The interior is finished with handcrafted teak cabinetry throughout and adds to the classic and timeless feel associated with high end quality vessels such as this one.  Pair all of this with the beautifully painted dark blue hull (done in 2015), and you will find yourself aboard one of the sleekest and sturdiest sedan cruisers you can find.

After reviewing the additional specifications which highlight the care and maintenance this Mikelson has seen, we are sure you will want to get aboard and see her for yourself.

ENGINES

This vessel is powered with twin Detroit diesel 8.2 engines with 250 hp each.  With the port engine having 1175 hours and the starboard with 1188, the lifespan of these motors is very extensive.  They have seen excellent care and maintenance from an Anacortes based Detroit specialist, with several components having been renewed in the past few years.  In 2016, the heat exchangers were replaced on both engines along with the port turbo being replaced while the starboard turbo was rebuilt.  Additionally, this same year, new motor mounts were installed as well as new raw water pumps for both engines.  Maintenance records throughout the most recent years are available for review.

GENERATOR

This Mikelson is equipped with an Onan generator which was removed and gone through by a qualified technician in the fall of 2016.  Major components, such as heat exchanger and mixing elbow were cleaned, examined and reinstalled with satisfactory condition review while other items, such as the exhaust hose from the muffler to the mixing elbow and raw water feed hose to the pump, were replaced.  Once given a blessing for a good bill of health, this Onan was reinstalled ready to go.

INVERTER & BATTERIES

A Xantrex inverter/charger is aboard this vessel.  In the fall of 2016, batteries were replaced (two 8D start batteries and six golf-cart house batteries) and the seller had the battery system reconfigured for easier access and to allow for a better system to provide longer time at anchor before needing to run the generator.  This new system has only one disconnect switch and has parallel capability.  A new shelf was configured to hold two 8-D batteries and the floor was cut out to access the tops of all of the batteries.  The positive wiring was run to the switch and the house loads were fused after the switch.  The grounds were all run to a common buss bar by the start battery.  The inverter fuse was mounted above the battery boxes under the new false floor.

ELECTRONICS

In the Summer of 2017, the vessel was upgraded to NMEA 2000 to integrate electronic components.

  • Simrad radar/GPS
  • Garmin depth sounder
  • W-H autopilot
  • Horizon plotter
  • HP Laptop w/ Nobeltec software
  • Uniden VHF radio
RUNNING GEAR

The seasoned owner of this Mikelson is including two new spare shafts with this vessel along with 2 spare props – an offering worth several thousands of dollars.  At the beginning of 2015 the packing glands were removed and cleaned in an acid solution, then repacked with new clamps on the hoses installed; at this same time, the log hoses were replaced as well as the cutlass bearings.  A final engine alignment was also performed.

STRUCTURE

The 42’ Mikelson hull is fully cored and comprised of hand-laid fiberglass, making for a solid ride and a sturdy structure.  The flybridge is comprised of solid fiberglass, a stamp of quality not often seen in vessels in this size and price range.  A three-quarter factory hardtop extends over the expansive cockpit, providing protection from the Northwest elements while leaving a sizeable amount of space for fishing.  Couple all of these with the extremely wide, and very safe walk-around decks, and Mikelson’s build quality is proven and can be felt when aboard.

PAINT

The hull of the vessel is a beautiful dark blue and was painted in 2015, and accentuates the beautiful, classic lines of the Mikelson.  Both the flybridge and decks were painted in 2016.  In 2014, she received new bottom paint, and because at this time she was moored out of the water (as is common practice in the Anacortes area – please not that she was still being used in the water throughout the year), she is still looking good.  With these upgrades combined, the overall look of this yacht is that of a newer vintage vessel.

TANKS

This vessel holds a total of 400 gallons of fuel, which is comprised of three separate tanks (one forward, one midship and one aft).  She offers 100 gallons of tankage for fresh water and has a 30 gallon black water holding tank.

HEATING

This Mikelson comes equipped with electric heating which can be operated while plugged into shore power or while powered by the generator.  A brand new diesel furnace has been added, with the connection from the unit to the diesel tank still needed to be completed.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The open salon with lower helm station offers an L-shaped settee with an exapansive table that can acommodate a larger crowd.  This settee also converts for additional sleeping.  This vessel offers two staterooms, the master with queen sized berth is forward with the boat's head being ensuite and a delightful bunkroom with twin bunks opposite the head (with separate shower stall) on the starboard side of the vessel.

The galley, just a few steps down from the salon, offers propane cooking with a Force 10 range and oven.  A full sized refrigerator/freezer (currently inoperable), microwave and double SS sinks also comprise this well outfitted galley.  She also provides plenty of stowage with hidden compartments about along with a deep panty area located under the helm.
